Gracefull Pantry

Updated: Jul 15, 2019

This post is dedicated to my Mother, master of the gracefull pantry, hostess-with-the-mostest, soup-chef, always-prepared - you get the picture. You haven't had soup until you've had my mom's clean-out-the-fridge soups. Or her baked potato and ham soup. Or her salmon chowder. Or her autumn stew. Her soups deserve their own post.

As a Pastor's wife, she was always ready for those families (or singles or teenagers) who showed up at dinner time, just as dinner was ready to go on the table. She confided in me this week that she really wasn't always ready the moment they came, but she was ready within minutes. Ha! She certainly was cool under pressure. (I want to be like her when I grow up.)

She knew how to stretch a Pastor's small salary and pray for the empty cupboards when it didn't stretch far enough. She kicks off her shoes when she comes in the door and starts serving. She takes in every "#leper" and misfit and makes them hers. She homeschooled six of her own kids and adopted several others.

So, in her honor, I've compiled a list of things every grace-filled woman would want to have on hand in her pantry, to be ready for every just-in-case scenario:

  • Could You Bring A Dessert?

  • Ladies Bible Study, My House, Tomorrow

  • Man Might Live On Bread Alone

  • Set Two (Or Four) More Places

  • Tea For Two (Coffee For Everyone)

  • Can I Drop Off A Dinner?

It's easier to be gracious when you're prepared.

#Grace prepares.
