Gracefull Assent

You decide to #leap long before you are presented with the #opportunity.

Let me explain: Ever been in a grocery store and felt God wanted you to encourage or pray for someone right then? Ever felt strongly that God is telling you to do or say something to a complete stranger that would uplift or encourage them? Pay for someone's groceries, gas, coffee?

I've recently been talking with a few ladies who felt these "#divine_appointments" seemed scary or outlandish - but they all wanted to get to a place where they were open and obedient to do as God led. Several of them had felt God wanted them to do something along these lines and they wanted to be obedient in the moment, but struggled with fear and anxiety, so they didn't. Fear of rejection, appearing awkward, worry about what they might say - the list is long on why one might NOT obey. Unfortunately, the list is short on why one WOULD obey (which is that God would be glorified and the person would be brought closer to Him).

I've been there: over-thinking and the moment passes. Or bogged down in the who, what, where, when, why, and how of it all. Or just freezing up and taking the easy way out (e.g. "I'll pray for them at home").

However, the #secret_to_obedience in the moment is to determine before the moment that you will say "yes", regardless.

Obedience is determined BEFORE the crazy moment. It's determined while lying abed at night as we examine our day and ask for grace to move with Him, hear Him, and speak His words. It's determined in the morning when we take note of God's Words to prepare ourselves to have something to say. It's determined when we ask Him to show us an opportunity as we turn the key in the ignition of our cars.

If we wait for the moment to battle our fears, we will likely lose to them. If we wait for the moment to decide to take a leap of faith, we will miss the optimal opportunity to do so and either won't take it at all, or do so rather awkwardly.

#Grace removes the awkward hesitation by determining ahead of time to go for it.
